York Girls Swim and Dive Take Second at York Invite Sept. 22

Homecoming weekend at York was a fine opportunity for the York Girls Swim and Dive Team to strut their stuff against several high quality area opponents at York Aquatic Center Saturday.

The Dukes Varsity Swim Team finished second to St. Ignatius in the nine-team meet by a score of 370 – 312. Defending Champ Deerfield HS from last year’s Invite was a distant third with 221. Other schools rounding out the field at the Invite in order of finish were Addison Trail-Willowbrook 146, Chicago Latin 99.5, Riverside-Brookfield 87, Crystal Lake 84, Maine West 42.5 and Hinsdale South 30.

At the York Invite, the top two individual event York results were:

  • 200 freestyle: senior Shannon Sullivan 3rd – 1:55.53, sophomore Alison Brodt 7th - 2:05.35
  • 50 freestyle: sophomore Jessica Woolfe 5th – 25.80, junior Perri Brinkmeier 8th - 26.86
  • 200 medley: freshman Paula Nolte 3rd -  2:19.14, junior Kirsten Rasnic 9th – 2:29.23
  • Diving: sophomore Leah Young 3rd
  • 100 butterfly: sophomore Sam Marlott 5th - 1:05.32, senior Kelly Dunbar 9th - 1:09.29
  • 100 freestyle: junior Hannah Nolte 3rd 55.24, senior Carly Redmond 5th – 57.73
  • 500 freestyle: Brodt 6th - 5:37.41, senior Anna Pankau 7th – 5:40.89
  • 100 backstroke:  junior Hannah Nolte 3rd – 1:02.65, Woolfe 5th – 1:03.82
  • 100 breaststroke: freshman Paula Nolte 1st -  1:09.87, junior Juliana Reinhofer 3rd - 1:13.73

York’s relay teams were equally impressive: 

York’s 200 freestyle relay posted a winning time of 1:41.46. York 1st – Woolfe (25.79), H. Nolte (25.22), Brinkmeier (26.36), Sullivan (24.09); and York also took 7th – Brodt, Dunbar, senior Jessica Sacksteder and sophomore Paige Jaeger.

York’s relay teams got the home Invite off to an impressive start with a second place time 1:54.14 in the 200 medley relay by H. Nolte (29.13), P. Nolte (31.79), Sullivan (27.76) and Woolfe (25.46).

York also placed 7th in the 200 medley relay: Brinkmeier, Reinhofer, Redmond and Sacksteder.

The meet ended with a 400 freestyle relay team coming in third behind St. Ignatius: Sullivan (53.33), P. Nolte (57.93), Marlott (57.93), Brinkmeier (57.64) 3:47.83; and York 7th: Jaeger, Brodt, Pankau and Redmond.

York continues West Suburban Conference Silver action Thursday hosting Glenbard West.
