WINFIELD, IL - State Sen. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) spoke at the General Membership Meeting of the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois at the Klein Creek Golf Club in Winfield on Aug. 23. He spoke about the state’s current business climate, and gave an overview of the spring legislative session and what is currently happening in the General Assembly.
The business of chemistry in Illinois is the state’s third largest manufacturing sector behind the food industry and heavy equipment. The state’s chemical industry employs more than 45,000 and supports close to 250,000 Illinois jobs among their suppliers. The industry recently became Illinois’ second largest exporter, moving $8.5 billion worth of product out of the country in 2011.
