York Boys Basketball Wins Regional Title in Overtime
The 59-57 comeback win over Bartlett gives the Dukes their first regional title since 2006; York advances to the Schaumburg Sectional on Wednesday.
On the strength of a double-double (22 points, 14 rebounds) from Frank Toohey and 21 points from David Cohn, the York Dukes boys basketball team won their first 4A regional title since 2006 in a 59-57 overtime win over the Bartlett Hawks on Friday, the Suburban Life reports.
According to the Courier-News, York (22-7) came back from a five-point hole at halftime to tie the game at 47 by the end of regulation, got their own five-point overtime lead on a three-pointer and layup from Cohn and then sank a few free throws to ice the victory.
“I thought Frankie had probably the best game he’s had all season, and David obviously proved why he was a D-I player when he hit some huge shots for us there down the stretch,” York coach Vince Doran told the paper.
