'Ravenscroft' and 'Aladdin' Hit the Stage, or Travel to Villa Park for a Major Scare

This weekend is spooky, dramatic and action-packed.

 

Enjoy everything Elmhurst has to offer. In addition to art exhibits at Elmhurst Art Museum and Elmhurst College, and concerts at Elmhurst Christian Reformed and Elmhurst Presbyterian Church, here are a few ideas for the weekend. We couldn't list it all here, so be sure to check out our calendar for more events. And, as always, tell us what we missed in the comments.

1. CHRISTIAN YOUTH THEATER PRESENTS 'ALADDIN'
Where/When: Timothy Christian School Auditorium, 188 W. Butterfield Road, 7 p.m. Friday, and 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday
Why Go:
The classic tale of "Aladdin" will take you far away to the enchanted land of Arabia where you'll be swept away on a magic carpet ride you'll never forget.
Cost: $10 on Friday, $14 for adults, all tickets $11 at 2 p.m. Saturday, and $14 for adults, $11 for students and seniors at 6 p.m. Saturday

2. GREENMAN THEATER PRESENTS 'RAVENSCROFT'
Where/When:
First United Methodist Church of Elmhurst 232 S York St., 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday
Why Go: An inspector delves into a mystery of the death of a handyman at a remote English estate during an investigation on a dark, snowy evening. In his attempts to discover the truth, the inspector comes to face demons from his own past.
Cost: $17, $15 for students and seniors

3. ASYLUM XPERIMENT HAUNTED HOUSE
Where/When:
The Odeum, 1033 N Villa Ave, Villa Park, 7:30 p.m. to midnight Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Why Go: The Asylum Xperiment is a Hollywood-style haunted attraction. Despite its massive size, every square inch of The Asylum Xperiment is meticulously thought-out down to the finest detail. Ticket also includes an added bonus, Blackout, a freakishly designed black maze of terror, full of clever twists and surprises.
Cost: $20 for general admission; $30/$35 for VIP Express

4. PANCAKE BREAKFAST TO BENEFIT UNITED COMMUNITY CONCERNS
Where/When:
Elmhurst Restaurant, 441 W Lake St., 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday
Why go: Sponsored by the Elmhurst Jaycees, all proceeds will benefit United Community Concerns.
Cost: $10

5.CN100 GAME OF THE WEEK: ST. FRANCIS VS. IMMACULATE CONCEPTION HIGH SCHOOL
Where/When:
Plunkett Park, S West Ave & W Utley Road, 1 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: Week 8 of the 2011 high school football season takes the CN100 Game of the Week to Elmhurst for a battle between the St. Francis Spartans and Immaculate Conception Knights. The game will be broadcast at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, on the Comcast Network.
Cost: Free
