Two Home Burglaries Discovered in Elmhurst Wednesday
Residents came home to discover their bedrooms ransacked.
Two residential burglaries were discovered in Elmhurst on Thursday, Jan. 3.
A home on the 100 block of North Evergreen Avenue was burglarized between 7 a.m. Dec. 29 and 8:53 a.m. Thursday, according to Elmhurst police.
A brick was thrown through the back glass door to gain access to the home, police said. Two upstairs bedrooms were ransacked, but at the time of the report it was unknown what was taken.
Another home, on the 800 block of Parkside, also was broken into between 6:26 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3.
The victims told police that when they returned home, they noticed their bedroom light was on. Upon entering the home, they noticed the rear door jam was broken away from the door. The master bedroom was ransacked, and $1,000 was missing from a ledge next to the bedroom window. It was unknown at the time of the report if any other items were missing.
Police said they have no suspects.

Ms. Talarico, I am disgusted by your "insurance fraud" comment; to pass judgment and make such a slanderous comment based on little fact. Think before you type.
Parkside burglary occurred when the homeowners left the house at 4:45pm and returned at 6:15pm, finding their back door kicked in and their ENTIRE house ransacked. Police allege multiple intruders are responsible. What the burglars have taken is not nearly as important as what could have happened if that family was home during dinner! The police could be investigating a homicide.
Another family in our community has had their sense of safety and security stolen; insurance doesn't cover that loss!
The questions you should ask . . . What are the Police doing?
Could the Police be doing more?

It was left on the windowsill so it could grow.
It also shows the power of advertising and proper display.
The boyfriend is apparently worth his weight in gold.
I have had renters whose place looked like it was permanently ransacked.
They always left the light on, all day long. I guess they were scared of the pending dark.
Lets see...if the deductible is a $1000.00 and a $1000.00 was taken would there be no loss?
Maybe they could have forced the burglars to eat with them. Revenge for sure.
The boyfriend could buy. They could have invited me to dinner but the picking were slim from what I hear.
Could the boyfriend broke the door jamb because he didn't have a key to get out?
A brick thrown through the window to open the door lock and then the door jamb broken. Makes sense to me.
Maybe we should send this to Jay Leno.
