Wouldn't we all like to pick our own boss?

As a former editor of the student newspaper there, there are more things to worry about than the faculty, such as increased legal spending, unnecessary focus on costly renovations and putting low enrollment majors like fire science, culinary and hotel management over essentials like liberal arts, engineering and business.

This is the best reason to vote for them. If the establishment is trying to get rid of them they must be doing something right!

COD teachers are horrifically overpaid, thanks to stealth Democrats. Ask what Party your candidates belong to! Kim Savage is a Downers Grove Township Democrat Party Chair trying to take over COD so they can install Democrat/teacher union friendly administrators.

Dave Carlin, Linda Hamilton, and others are Republicans working with county business to provide education program that will grow the local economy by providing businesses with a trained workforce. What a difference their goals are, and no wonder teachers dump union dues into continuing the high pay gravy train Democrats have promised them.

Liberal Arts? Please, the name says it all. Enough of this nonsense. Cod is supposed to be a county resource, not a Democrat fiefdom.

The incumbents have supported the hotel/restaurant and push by Breuder for Dorms and his quest to become a 4 year university. Why would we want more of the same?

The trustees are supposed to represent the community and the students NOT the teachers union. The unions should have a seat on ONE side of the table not BOTH sides. Frank Flores Jr. and Agustin are both representing the interests of the union. Agustin is a retired architect to boot! We need to keep COD in the hands of people like us - not create a "jobs farm" for the unions at the expense of the community taxpayers and the students.

Guaranteed two things will screw up a school: 1) Teachers unions; and 2) Educators running the school boards or holding faculty management positions.

That's OK, We live in a bankrupting nation ($16,000,000,000,000) in debt, in a bankrupt state ($100,000,000 in unfunded pensions), next to a bankrupt county (Cook) and city (Chicago). DuPage is slowly and surely drinking the same Kool Aid. Eventually the financiers will dictate what we can / can not do.

This is NOT a Republican/Democrat thing. This is not a pro-teacher/anti-teacher thing. There are a few of you "haters" out there that think teachers only look out for themselves, Democrats just want to bleed money, and Republicans just want to keep all the money for their rich friends. None of this is relevant in the COD Trustee election! I will not vote for incumbents: The past few years have proven that they do not have the best interests of taxpayers or their community in mind. I want level-headed, balanced, thoughtful people on the Board. I won't vote for Flores because of the allegations of wrong-doing that bring question to his ethics...if they are found to be untrue, I hope he will run again at a later date. I will likely not vote for the faculty-endorsed candidate either. I'm not too worried about the Architecture at COD. I will vote for Hamilton because of her financial background. That is needed. I will vote for Lanners becuase of his education background. He was on the faculty when COD was busy being a good school, not trying to spend wads of cash and be "glitsy". Don't get me wrong, COD is a wonderful resource. If us parents were really smart, we would all send our kids there for their first two years of college....but I digress. I will vote Lanners and Hamilton because level-headed and intelligent is important and I think they will bring good balance to the board.

If there were D's and R's behind their names at least there would be more honesty and information for the voter.
