Son of DuPage County District 2 Board Member Arrested for Selling Cocaine

Collin O'Shea faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

The 18-year-old son of DuPage County Board member and judge candidate Patrick O'Shea has been arrested and charged with selling cocaine.

Collin O'Shea, a Lombard resident, was arrested by Lombard and DuPage County law enforcement officials last week after a month-long investigation, according to an article in the Daily Herald.

The article said he is charged with "attempting" to sell cocaine, but DuPage County State's Attorney spokesman Paul Darrah clarified the charges, saying that is "not fully correct."

"He is charged with selling cocaine, not 'attempting' to sell cocaine," Darrah said.

He was released on bond. The crime is a Class 1 Felony, and if convicted, O'Shea faces four to 15 years in prison.

Patrick O'Shea, an attorney, has served DuPage District 2 for more than 20 years. He is running for DuPage County Circuit Court Judge in the March 20 Primary.

Very embarrassing. Parents do the best they can and stuff happens. It looks like Collin's luck has run out.

"Not fully correct" means that they need more time to "make this go away," which will happen. IF it stays on his record, the most he'll do is probabation and the public will be told-- in a carefully worded statement, that all the facts were not revealed. Politics rules law enforcement.

I don't know why some are blaming Mr. O'Shea for the actions of his adult son? Every parent knows that you try to raise your kids the best you can, but once they become adults they are free to make their own choices. I feel to put the blame on Mr. O'Shea is just plain wrong. I'm sure many parents in DuPage can relate in one way or another to a time when their kids did something that reflected poorly on them. Also let us not forget about Senate President John Cullerton's son, who was charged with DUI in a STATE CAR!

or John Birkett's son who was busted for pot, and subsequently got the charges dropped(not surprising) However all 3 of these incidents have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the elected officials themselves, or their qualifications. Pat O'Shea has done a lot for the district, and I will be supporting him for judge also.

I will vote for Pat O'Shea too. Readers toon in because of the headline grabber--"Son of DuPage District 2 member" instead of just naming the ADULT who was arrested, COLLIN O'SHEA. But it still doesn't change the fact that most of this case will probably go away because of his connections. That is the nature of politics.

To Just Sayin and others - This will be a high profile case and I doubt if the judge involved in this case is going to roll over like they do in Crook county & look the other way because of O'Shea family name. We will see, selling cocaine is a felony, serious stuff. We will see ...........

Well I know the other Son is a Veteran of the War in Iraq. His second oldest is also doing very well for herself too I believe. So he still has my vote, I can't hold the works of his adult son against him.

While it may be true that the parents are not necessarily to blame for an adult child's actions when one child gets in trouble, I have to look more deeply into the parenting and also the true values in a family when more than one child has made such outlandish mistakes. He has a daughter that was arrested a few years back for robbing mini marts while under the influence of heroin with her baby in the car. I can only feel that there was a large disconnect in the raising of these children and that makes me wonder about what was really important to the father. Which then makes me wonder what is really important to the candidate who will continue to run for office instead of healing his family first. There will always be another election. And if his election is more important than his family what does that say about his VALUES that will show up in court as a judge.
