Again, this prostitute was baited INTO Elmhurst , not operating FROM Elmhurst.

That is the way the article expresses what happened.

Our police should not be spending time or resources on "stings" like this. It is not protecting our community, it endangers our community, creates a bad moral climate, and detracts from our reputation. This impacts property values negatively. While it may justify police staffing levels and budgets as well as create overtime for officers, I do not see it as productive and I actually find it to be a negative.

Someone, potentially on drugs or intoxicated, drives into town. Does this not put our public at risk? I would say so. Then this person enters a facility, often dressed in ways that send negative messages to children who are present, and then the hotel receives negative publicity.

Who benefits? The Police. There seems to be no system of checks and balances in our community. Human nature requires these type of controls. Power corrupts and must be held in check.

OMG some one in Elmhurst who has a BRAIN finally. I doubted their existence for quite a while. Great Comment Jim. Someone who's obviously EDUCATED and understands ECONOMICS. The cops are complete crooks in this town who will go at any length to issue tickets and make arrests to fill up their quotas and get their hours up. It's the reason why Elmhurst needs to vastly cut its police force in the SAFE western suburbs.

So Mrs. Chadra (a.k.a. Ms. Smarty Pants), it says in your profile that you're a Republican. Since your political party has jumped on the WE NEED TO MAKE BUDGET CUTS AT ALL COSTS BANDWAGON [(even if it means cutting health care, employee benefits, and anything that benefits society like Americorps, etc.) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/12/house-gop-budget-plan-tar_n_822364.html ] don't you AGREE that we should make budget cuts where necessary by laying off a good portion of the (Unnecessarily Large) Police Force inside this Safe, Wealthy, Western Suburb?

Or do you depend on Cops in this town to feel safe inside your nice, big home?
Or maybe your JOB depends on reporting stupid articles like this to get ATTENTION and act like there's actually real crime in this town (none of which does any real harm to society) so you can fill your time and work more hours.

As Jim said above, POWER CORRUPTS.

Wow. It always amazes me how someone can call themselves “educated” and draw all kinds of conclusions without actually knowing anything. First of all, Patch is politically neutral. You will not see me taking a position. We report the news. Your reference to my “big home,” and how I need to report on stupid stories to “fill my time” is an interesting little 5-second summary. If you don’t like the stories reported on Patch, you are free to get your news elsewhere. But hopefully you feel better getting all that off your chest, Educated-College-Student. Enjoy the shield of anonymity. I'm sure that's your way of feeling "safe."

Mr Hunt and Fish,

Obviously you hunt and then you fish. Say what you want, the facts that I talk about are based on logic. I never pretend to be perfect. In fact, I have spent much of my adult life striving to constantly improve who I am. I have largely succeeded and do not owe you and your anonymous "rant' any merit. Perhaps you work for the Police department and don't like what I say. Who would pretend to go back into the archives of the Elmhurst Press other than to try to impugn the character of someone who might jeopardize, although not maliciously, the police department staffing levels and methods of enforcement.

Why don't you disclose your name? What are you afraid of ?

Taxpayers have a right to question Government and expenditures. This is a democracy. Perhaps not so for authoritarian individuals who prey on others.

Karen, this individual is attempting to slander someone for agendas that have nothing to do with what I have written. Please contact me.

Lynn,

I believe that those in leadership positions need to address this. In politics it seems like it is always "going along to get along. Stepping on toes is never going to help you further climb into even higher positions of power. What we end up with is an endless stream of politicians who are more concerned about self interest and not the public who they profess to care for. We need true statesman and I rarely see it.

The public is obviously alarmed by some of the actions of certain police, not all of them. It seems that it is an "us against them" mindset that is creating this great divide. City leaders need to address this in ways that create the best police organization possible and foster complete trust and faith in the Police Department.

There is currently no system of checks and balances. I realize that the Mayor must offer up reasonable support of the Police. We cannot be a city divided but the keyword is "reasonable". Many cities have had issues with rogue police officers so it is not unreasonable to think that this may exist. People are people. We have our share of dysfunctional clergy, teachers, police, elected leaders, CEO's. No one is exempt. Passive citizenry is distracted by everyday life and have become tolerant of these errant behaviors. I love many things about our city, our state, and our country but many improvements are needed. I do not want to just be a negative complainer but somethings need to be addressed. Will it get done? I doubt it.
