Another outstanding Elmhurst based charity is the Elmhurst Children's Assistance Foundation (ECAF). ECAF was started in 1993, to assist local families where a child's life is impacted by a serious medical or disabling condition. ECAF provides financial assistance to the families so they have one less stress in their lives. Financial support is provided through the generosity of local residents and businesses and distributed by an all volunteer board.
ECAF is hosting their Casino Night this Saturday, February 19th, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Diplomat West, North Avenue & Route 83. Donations are $85.00, which includes "Fun Play Gaming", an open bar, appetizers, desserts, and raffle prizes.
You can learn more about ECAF at www.ecaf4kids.org or on our Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Elmhurst-Childrens-Assistance-Foundation/141344529222847.

Thank you for this information! I was just watching this gal on Oprah say that we should go out and serve in our community and feeling like I wanted to plug in somewhere. I am going to see what I can do about investigating these places and others to see where I can make a difference. If you have any more information about matching citizens/skills to organizations' needs please let me know! Awesome article and very timely.
