Perhaps if Elmhurst quietly and discretely placed portable bathrooms in the downtown area the problem would be solved. People with diabetes, on certain medications, physical conditions or simply drank to much liquids of any kind might be forced to heed the call of mother nature.
This would prevent this problem and make criminals out of ordinary people.

Urinating at 4:16 pm on the Prairie Path within 500 ft of several establishments with restrooms does not sound like ordinary behavior. Nor does it support the case for more restrooms being placed prone to be defaced by vandals.

Businesses frown upon use of their bathrooms for that purpose alone.
Unless we know the facts we can only speculate.
What would be wrong with placing portable bathrooms as I mentioned and for the reasons I mentioned ? Seniors, children, those with medical issues, even though who consumed to many liquids of any type, To think it would not help is unrealistic and to approach it from a negative perspective such as possible graffiti is the wrong focus. We better never put up a fence, a building, or have railroad cars according to that logic.

There was a portable bathroom at Pioneer Park near the Prairie Path. Most of the time it was unusable. My grandson was being potty trained and we proceeded to try to use the potty and it was smeared with feces. When they are used at an event such as the Turkey Trot they are temporary and fairly decent but, when they are left unattended for a period of time....yuck! One more thing that grosses me out is dog owners who lift their dogs up to drink from the public drinking fountains in town. I'm glad to see the city is now adapting fountains in some locations so dogs can access water. After all, I understand they get thirsty too! Not a fan of public fountains or Port-A-Potty's but, I do recognize a need for them.

Nancy

I understand butt I think no one would buy a house without a bathroom nor would any festival operate without out them. I guess we could get rid of the bathroom at the Parks. They are an expense and produce no income. Maybe even the bars could help fund them. Gotta go.
