Meatheads in Elmhurst is Opening March 11
They won't make you skinny, but they might make you rethink your burger.
You've heard the rumors, seen the sign. So what is this Meatheads place that's going in where Fresco's used to be at 143 N. York?
We'll get to the menu in a minute, but for starters, Meatheads plays a big role in the communities it serves. They like helping to get kids off the couch.
Meatheads of the Month recognizes exceptional local high school athletes who demonstrate determination, hustle and hard work. Every month, athletes from local high schools are selected as nominees, the public votes and the winning athlete's photo is displayed in the restaurant for the year.
Then there's the Voracious Summer Reading Program, which encourages kids to read. More than 60,000 kids participated in 2012. You can read more about this in Crains.
Meathead of the Game celebrates young athletes in organized sports who choose to participate in real games rather than play video games. More than 50,000 kids participated in 2012.
Meatheads also offers nonprofit groups, schools and other community organizations the opportunity to have fund-raisers at the store.
Now, for the best part: the menu. Diet-friendly? Not so much. But if you're having a "cheat day" and need to wake up your taste buds, here are a few options:
- 100 percent fresh, never frozen, certified Angus beef burgers, including chef-inspired NY Reuben, Texas ranch, Cajun sunrise, Hawaiian and more, all served with signature sauces and toppings
- chicken tenders
- grilled chicken
- sandwiches
- New England style hot dogs
- french fries cut every day and cooked in omega-rich canola oil
- hand-dipped milkshakes
Lots of reviews can be found on Facebook (people seem to like it) and, they're hiring.
The grand opening is 11 a.m. Monday, March 11. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The first 1,000 people to register online will receive a free burger at the Elmhurst location.

Eating here will result in weight watchers, diabetes treatment centers and the coronary unit at Elmhurst Hospital utlimately getting plenty of business.

Meatheads is great! Can't wait to have one in town although I bet my wife might feel differently after a few trips in the first week.

We keep giving PRIME real estate locations + tax incentives to chain businesses like Chipotle and Meatheads, while small businesses that offer something different (and actually the chance for out of towners to come visit Elmhurst for!) are stuck in alleys or areas with sparse foot traffic.
Why not offer the same incentives to these small businesses with the mutual benefit of growing WITH Elmhurst?

Hi all, and thanks for the great article! Meatheads is very excited to be opening in Elmhurst next week, and we have been looking forward to it for quite some time. I appreciate all of the kind words, and just to clarify Meatheads is not a national chain, we are actually an Illinois based chain with 11 restaurants - all in Illinois. Also, while we know there are certain nutritional characteristics that are inherent when serving burgers and fries please know that we are serving only fresh, all natural, made to order food. All of our burgers are made from 100% Certified Angus Beef, which is a designation reserved for only 8% of all beef production. In addition, all of our fries are hand cut daily from fresh Idaho potatoes and cooked in 100% canola oil. Plus, at Meatheads we don't have microwaves, and the only frozen product we serve is the ice cream for the hand-dipped shakes.
Thanks again, and if anyone would like to learn more, or wants to connect please email me at jsanders@meatheadsburgers.com or shoot us a message at www.Facebook.com/MeatheadsBurgers
Thanks and Take Care,
Joe Sanders

Just what we need in Elmhurst, more fat and cholesterol. Oh well, our new Elmhurst Memorial Hospital is well equipped for all kinds of strokes and heart attacks, and they can sure use the business after having erected a poorly-planned, overly-expensive place of healing. So, to both Meatheads, their future customers, and to Elmhurst Memorial, in the words of William Shakespeare in his play "A Midsummer Night's Dream,"--"What fools these mortals be!"
