Ice Dreams will Include Future Stars from Elmhurst

Giana Gatti and Calli Carson, both of Elmhurst, will perform alongside Weir and other championship-level performers in the second annual Ice Dreams.

The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville will host the second annual Ice Dreams, featuring three-time U.S. National Figure Skating champion and two-time U.S. Olympian Johnny Weir and other elite skaters. The show will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30.

Giana Gatti  and Calli Carsonhas of Elmhurst have earned the chance to skate as a Future Star in the show with Weir and the other elite athletes.

Ice Dreams is "a chance to make dreams come true for young skaters by offering them the opportunity to perform alongside their Olympic heroes,” said Tara Modlin, president of Fireworks Sports Marketing and executive producer of the show. “Olympic dreams start every day at ice rinks around the world, and Fireworks is lucky enough to see young skaters become champions. And who knows—maybe our next Olympian will make their debut performance at Ice Dreams.”

Children and teenage skaters selected from around the region will perform in a group exhibition during the show. The Future Stars will get a taste of what it feels like to be an Olympian, with custom-made costumes, backstage access and a full-fledged show-rehearsal schedule.

“Performing with young skaters is great, because our fans are what keep us going,” Weir said. “It is our job to inspire young skaters and encourage them to follow their dreams on and off the ice.”
