Handgun Found in McDonald's Bathroom

No clues yet as to who left it there.

Elmhurst police reported that a gun was found in the bathroom at McDonald's, 920 N. York Road, at 12:32 p.m. May 9.

Police were called to the restaurant after the manager found the black handgun on top of the toilet paper dispenser inside one of the stalls. He said he wasn't sure if it was real or not, so he placed it into the safe.

He told police that no one looked suspicious at that time, but he was approached by a customer who said her autistic son also had seen the gun.

Surveillance footage was requested, but no one at the restaurant knew how to obtain it. When police checked the serial number of the gun, no information was obtained. Police they placed the gun into evidence, and an investigation is ongoing.
