Elmhurst Vs. Geneva—Who Do You 'Like' Better?

Join our competition to see which Patch Facebook page can be the first to get to 1,000 "Likes."

Be honest. Who do you "Like" better: Elmhurst or Geneva?

Sure, Elmhurst has all the sophistication and the outstanding Elmhurst College, the Elmhurst Historical Museum and Art Museum, gorgeous homes and tree-lined streets, a hospital, great schools, proximity to Chicago, some very nice restaurants and very nice residents—and one of the best Patch sites in America with Karen Chadra at the helm.

Geneva is pretty darned nice, too. We've got that whole river thing going, and our own stop on the West Line. And historic buildings and great places to eat and shop, super festivals, great schools, a hospital, and our own share of gorgeous homes and tree-lined streets. And, of course, the absolutely outstanding Geneva Patch site, with me, me, meeeeee as its editor.

But, really, which is better? You can tell us.

Right now, as this is written, the Facebook pages for both Elmhurst and Geneva Patch are closing in on 1,000 "Likes." Karen and I have a friendly competition going about who can get there first.

Geneva has a slight lead: 973-948. So, if you're from Elmhurst, start liking now, my Facebook friends.

To "Like" Elmhurst, click on this sentence, or any of the other linked "Elmhurst" references above, and it will take you to the Elmhurst Patch Facebook page.

To "Like" Geneva, click on this sentence and, well, ditto.

What's it going to be, boys and girls, Geneva or Elmhurst, Elmhurst or Geneva? Which Patch Facebook Page will be the winner? Which Patch editor will be the first to misquote Sally Field and say, "You like me, you really like me!"

Tough choice - I was born and raised in Elmhurst, went to Elmhurst College, etc., etc. But Geneva has it all over Elmhurst. Some people call it "Pleasantville".

I would go Geneva even though I have so much family history here. Rick, I agree with your "Pleasantville" statement

Sorry Rick, All other things being equal it comes down to the Patch editors; Karen wins. I'm fond of both communities, but live in neither. I do visit both frequently and couldn't possibly pick one over the other; until you through in the Patch editor part. Elmhurst. Keep working though.

Thanks, Kevin! And, kudos to the fabulous Geneva editor, Rick Nagel. Geneva Patch on Facebook reached 1,000 "Likes" today. Elmhurst is currently at 997! Truly a close one. We'll try again as we approach 2,000 :)

* "...threw in" I'm beating myself up over using the wrong word and picking one editor over the other. Consider this my "self censure".

Kudos to Karen and Elmhurst Patch! Geneva had a head start, but that "1k" looks pretty darned good. Thanks to all for participating, and keep spreading the word. "2k" looks even better! :)

I grew up in Elmhurst. Twenty + years ago I'd have gone with Elmhurst, but Geneva is better at this point. *Just keep those downtown businesses in place.

Wish I could add another, but I deleted my Facebook accotunt some time ago. Found it to be more of a nuisance than it was worth. Additionally I did not like the fact the cofounder gave up his US citizenship and I do not want to contribute ro his fortune.

So just counting facebook likes may be missing many people who would give the Elmhurst patch a vote. You may want to consider how many registered people you have and visitor contacts.

Thanks, Jim R. We do measure everything :) The Facebook competition was just good fun because Rick and I have been neck and neck on the number of Likes.
