A search of a home on South Kenilworth Avenue Wednesday evening turned up a weapon and drugs allegedly owned by a convicted felon, Elmhurst police said.

Police arrested Luis Morales, 31, of 235 S. Kenilworth. Morales reportedly consented to a search of his home at about 5 p.m. Dec. 12. Police said they found an unloaded, black, Izhevsk 380 semi-automatic pistol with the serial number removed. They also allegedly found cannabis and suspect hashish.

Morales was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm with the serial number removed, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of forcible felony, possession of a firearm without a firearm owners identification card, possession of cannabis and possession of hashish.

He was taken to DuPage County Jail and is being held on $10,000 bond, according to DuPage County Sheriff's records.
