Alleged Elmhurst Gang Member Arrested on Weapons Charge
Nine members of the Almighty Gaylords nabbed in a sweep Aug. 23.
An Elmhurst man is among nine alleged gang members arrested for either possessing or selling firearms to a felon.
Bobby Price, 50, an alleged member of the Almighty Gaylords' Addison faction, was arrested after an 18-month undercover investigation, the Daily Herald is reporting.
The nine were arrested during a sweep Tuesday. They allegedly are part of an integrated scheme to get weapons into the hands of felons.
A search warrant was executed at Price's Elmhurst home, as well as at a farm in Wisconsin, where the gang members "stored weapons and practiced shooting," the Herald article said.
An AK-47 assault rifle with 2,400 rounds of ammo was among the cache.
"Once violent players in Chicago ... not much has been heard from the Gaylords since the 1970s," the Chicago Tribune is reporting.
The investigation involved ATF, Cook County sheriff's police and the Addison Police Department.
