Elmhurst District 205 Superintendent Lynn Krizic Has a New Job
Krizic is moving to Rhode Island to become superintendent for Portsmouth School Department.
The Portsmouth, R.I., School Department has hired former Elmhurst District 205 Superintendent Lynn Krizic as its new superintendent.
The School Committee in Portsmouth hired Krizic Tuesday, in what Portsmouth Patch is calling a "surprise" move. The appointment of a superintendent was not listed on the meeting's agenda.
Current Portsmouth Superintendent Susan Lusi announced on Jan. 11 she would not seek renewal of her contract. A search committee was hired to find her replacement. The final three candidates were supposed to have been presented to the School Committee at the end of May, but when that actually happened is unclear, Portsmouth Patch Editor Sandy McGee said.
A unanimous vote to offer the job to Krizic took place last Wednesday, June 8, in an executive session. Krizic accepted the offer on Friday, June 10, and will begin work July 5, according to the article.
Krizic accepted a three-year contract at $145,000 per year, and she will receive a $2,000 moving allowance.
The Portsmouth School District is a kindergarten through 12th grade unit district like Elmhurst, but it has only four schools, according to the district's Web site: Hathaway Elementary, Melville Elementary, Portsmouth Middle School and Portsmouth High School.
According to the Rhode Island Department of Education, as of Oct. 1, 2009, 2,859 students were enrolled in Portsmouth schools, including approximately 1,127 students in grades K-5, 651 students in grades 6-8 and 1,029 students at the high school. Portsmouth has about 17,000 residents.
June 14 was supposed to be Krizic's last Elmhurst School Board meeting, however she did not attend because of a family emergency, School Board President Susan DeRonne said.
DeRonne recognized Krizic for her five years of service at the meeting.
Krizic’s fiscal management "(led) the district from early warning status to financial recognition," DeRonne said. "It is not necessary for me to embellish, explain or add to this list of accomplishments. Dr. Krizic’s accomplishments stand for themselves, and can be seen and felt in every area of our organization."
The District 205 School Board voted not to renew Krizic's contract last October. New Superintendent David Pruneau begins next month.

Why am I not surprised that her new job is out of state? When will school boards end the musical chairs when hiring superintendents? But then again, I would argue that we don't need the over priced public relations positions anyway.

There is nothing nasty or rumor-mongering about the citizens of Elmhurst. People care and support those that deserve it, i.e. Principal Smith and they stand up against those who lie, cheat and manipulate like Krizic. One must look no further then the transition center debacle then to see why Elmhurst never should have hired her and would have been much better without her.

York High School is behind on performance...not the entire district. School districts are short on funds becasue of the economy.

School districts are short on funds because of too many high priced administrators and teachers who are given high salaries and over generous benefit packages by state lawmakers in exchange for their votes.

Let her go to NH, I think the deal with the old AT&T building was a poor real estate transaction and she was probably given bad advice. Don't know too much about the other bad things people here are saying about the Dr. but let's let it go and be adult. Can't people wake up each morning and forget about others short comings? For 5 years Dist. 205 was in business, sure there were issues and problems and I guess that is why they let Lynn go. Anyways for her and her family's future, let it go. God says forgive but can You !

I'm not sure if we are helping anyone out by scaring the Portsmouth, RI school district. I do think they need to accept their new superintendent with open arms, wide-eyes, and astute ears. Advice to the new school district is to hold her accountable for what she says and make sure she knows it is important to be in the schools regularly. I think this would have made a big difference to the environment here in Elmhurst. Everyone deserves another chance and hopefully she has grown from mistakes and remembers to really listen to her staff, community, and also the students. Best of Luck Dr. Krizic and the Portsmouth Public Schools.

The people in Elmhurst, Illinois need to stop complaining about Dr. Krizic's personality and performance.
You are getting, well, Christmas in July. You should be so thankful to Portsmouth for giving you such a wonderful gift. Dr. Krizic will be gone from Elmhurst and Illinois so stop complaining. Be thankful that you are getting an early Christmas. Think of others who aren't as blessed as you. Portsmouth will have an early Halloween with lots of costumes.

I think Elmhurst should turn their focus to another Dr. His name is Dr. Seuss and he wrote some wonderful educational books. Continue your summer reading with two of his best books. They are "Oh the Places You'll Go" and "Yertle the Turtle".
Doesn't District 205 have a web master? Is that in the budget? The district site really should be updated now that Dr. Krizic will soon be gone. Oh, wait, she may want to leave us all with her words of wisdom and insight and let's not forget her expertise and "suggestions". I look forward to her parting comments or maybe, just maybe, she is speechless.

The AT&T building purchase will turn out to be a great deal long term for Dist. 205. Yes, they overpayed and yes, their was some inside $$ dealing. The timing was not so great and the public communication/education of the end goal was not up to par for "Elmhurst elite
Can we please get over it and move on to the future? Heck, that property could have been a parking deck!

Why would we concern ourselves with this? She is no longer here. We have more pressing issues. Could she have simply forgot to do this? Making a big deal out of trivia is nothing more than a witch hunt and meaningless. I guess some people thrive on gossip and trash talk. I can't say it doesn't sell. Look at the wasteland that TV is. Trash magazines sell very well. Gossip columnist do alright. Eye on Hollywood, Judge Judy, Maury Povich Jerry Springer. Storage Wars and any other kind of Wars. John Kass was right today. All my Babies Mamas will be a huge success.
We are truly a society in rapid decline.
