Leave the guy alone. While you may not agree with him or some may not like his style( we are all different), he invested a huge amount of time being the Mayor. I am sure he likes his hometown and now has to deal with scorn from some of the people. What a thankless job. I hardly know the guy but I met his family and they were truly a very nice group of people and his Mom was exceptionally kind and sweet to me.

yeah, and i'm betting he has to drive himself places now. he'd get put in his place pretty quickly by chairman dan if he asked one of the DuPage Sheriffs to drive him to a meeting. I don't know if that site is still up, but www.diciannifollies.com is definitely worth a look. i'm gonna miss pension pete ... i wonder if he has any clue how unpopular he is ??

no more,
What are your specific complaints about Pete?
Vague generalizations are never fair.
They cast negative aspersions without really saying anything.

Even if you have legitimate differences do you ever think about all of the criticism and the impact on family and friends. He is no longer Mayor so why go backwards.
His ability to forge connections can still play out positively for our community.

ok jim, here are specifics:

a. pious pete tries to introduce prayer into city cpuncil meetings
b. arrogant pete refuses to deal with muisenga car dealerships pleas for help
(city loses another car dealership)
c. imperial pete asks city police officers to drive him to meetings in cook county.
d. pension pete wants to be both "our mayor", and our county board rep. we all know how that went
e. divisive pete fights to the very end; forces city to spend 25,000 on legal opinions; ends up following the money (choosing 50,000 "part-time" job, over mayoral stipend)
f. pariah pete is a no-show at st. pats! what does that tell you? because no one wants him around

is that vague enough for you jim?

no more,
The concept of prayer can be related to religious upbringing and convictions. Islam prays five times a day. It can also be a machavellian attempt at the appearance of righteousness. I do not want to second guess anyone' motives.
The car dealership had let itself completely deteriorate. Its appearance was absolutely terrible. How code enforcement did not step in over the years absolutely amazed me, although it shouldn't . Why would we use public monies to prop up a business that according its employee's, was exceedingly greedy and cheap. Yes, I want to retain a dealership and it bothered me how the dealership had no loyalty to the community.
I am not sure of why he would ask them to drive him. I would ask him directly.
I am not sure that he expected opposition to serving in both positions. Yes, it was challenged and as a result, clarity is now had.
Advancing in your career or obtaining higher pay is the American way. Why would I fault him for that. He has a wife and a family.
I might be a "no -show" if I was on the end of all this negativity when I thought in my heart that I tried to serve the community well. it has also been suggested that Steve Morley asked him not to attend. I do not know if this is the truth.

I am sure that if either one of us was the Mayor we would have our fans and our detractors. Lets vote for a new Mayor and move forward. Elmhurst is building a huge number of homes in a time where building is limited. That would suggest a positive view and faith in our community.

As much as I believe Mariano's will be a nice store, I also believe that there is only a certain percentage of disposal income allotted for groceries. Unless it draws heavily from outside communities I do not expect to see a huge gain in tax revenues. One grocers gain becomes another grocers loss. No net gain. I would have preferred a Lowes Home Center. We leave our tax dollars in Northlake, Oak Brook Terrace, Glen Dale Heights and Melrose Park.

Peace !!
