Icy Roads Cause Some Car Accidents

It was bad out there Sunday afternoon, but hang on; Tuesday's high is 60.

Jake and John Eleniewski of Elmhurst captured this car accident at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Crescent and Rex.

Elmhurst paramedics transported at least one person to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, they said.

Overnight Sunday, the temperature will gradually rise, reaching around 41 by 5 a.m. and probably eliminating the ice problem for the morning commute.

The roads were a mess for most of the afternoon Sunday, but all that is about to change; expect a high of 60 on Tuesday. Then, hang on for a wet roller-coaster weather ride. Here's the week's forecast, according to the National Weather Service:

Monday: Rain likely before 7 a.m., areas of fog from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. High near 47.

Tuesday: 70 percent chance of rain with thunderstorms possible in the morning. High 61. Low around 32 Tuesday night.

Wednesday: 40 percent chance of rain and snow showers before 7 a.m., turning to snow later in the day. Daytime high near 32, down to 14 Wednesday night.

Thursday: Partly sunny with a high near 18. Yep, 18. Down to 4 degrees Thursday night.

Friday: Mostly sunny, high near 17. Slight chance of snow Friday night with a low around 13.
