York Dukes Cheerleaders competed in the Bolingbrook Invitational Competition on Sunday, December 9, 2012. The day was long, beginning with Junior Varsity taking the floor at 9:00 a.m., the new Power Stunt group at 2:15 p.m. and Varsity not taking the floor until 3:30 p.m. The time did not bother the Dukes armed with pillows and blankets to set up a make shift ‘camp’ in the school’s Field House. They brought sandwiches and snacks to fuel their nutritional needs in between their stunting sessions and cheering practices--something they know very well because they practice 2-3 evenings a week, attend outside tumbling classes, condition in the morning and even practice on Saturdays to be the best they can be.
Their hard work and dedication paid off earning them a 3rd place trophy in Large Varsity and 2nd place medals in Power Stunting.
The dedicated members of York Cheer are: Co-captains Brailey Nudera, Haley Edwards, and Lizzie Larsen along with Seniors: Lexy Ferrara, Amanda Quarrie Marissa Buffo, and the mesmerizing Matt Echavarria. Juniors: Jordan Perez, Jessie Whitmore, Dominique Di Menna, Lauren Maloney, Sammy Martin, Kristian James, Marley Sadowicz, Kailie Starr, Elena Ceas, Jess Hogan and Dylan Rutz. Sophomores: Annalise Haarstad, Lexi Bojesen, Reilly Leddy, Lili Peluso and Freshman: Madison Hoffmann.
York Dukes are coached by the dedicated Dena Poulos (Varsity) and Kristen Tansor (Jr Varsity). Their next competitions are on January 6 and January 12, 2013.

Great news during this time when School Board President Jim Collins and Superintendent David Pruneau are doing their best to destroy York Athletics. http://elmhurst.patch.com/articles/york-high-school-athletic-director-john-rutter-resigns
York Cheer is a diamond in the rough. Watch out Cross Country you may have to share the Trophy case because York has an up and coming State contender this year!

Way to go girls!! Strength come from knowing what you want, who you are and the dedication to hard work. Girls you've proven you are strong both mentally and physically. You don't need a ball in your hand to be an athlete - you just need the desire to succeed.
