- Award: Headed for the Finals
Since 2008, White Pines Golf Club, in Bensenville, has been host to the Special Olympics Golf Program for Veteran’s Park District. Illinois PGA Professional, Marty Joyce, along with Fenton High School Golf Coach, Pat Tantillo, and 3 high school golf standouts; Tanner Obal, Jon Walsh and Kate DeMeulenaere, have instructed the athletes in the areas of putting, chipping, pitching, irons and wood shots. “Over the last several years, we have seen continued improvement in our athletes”, proudly states Marty. “I am sure they will do a fine job at the finals this year. It has been an extreme pleasure to work with athletes that have such great enthusiasm and love for the game of golf. Working with all of them has made our lives better and hopefully theirs as well.”
The students have been pre-tested to be seeded for the finals to be held at Village Greens Golf Course in Woodridge on July 25, from 8 am to 4 pm.
