Seeds: Growing Value in the Community
ELMHURST, Ill. – Just like children, seeds are the future – but they also have a powerful link to the past. Seeds carry valuable genetic code that needs to be saved, and by gathering certain seeds and not others, our ancestors ensured the survival of specific plants. Stop by the Wilder Park Conservatory, 225 S. Prospect, February 4-March 4 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Sunday, and learn about genetic modification in seeds as well as creating your own new seed variety.
We’ll also be giving out marigold seeds from Monday-Friday, so check with the horticulturist to add to your personal seed collection! It is a great opportunity to learn about a unique aspect of the natural world. For more information, contact the Wagner Community Center at (630) 993-8901.
The Elmhurst Park District is an Illinois Distinguished Agency dedicated to promoting “lifetime enjoyment” by providing a variety of parks, recreation facilities, and affordable programs in the Elmhurst community. For more information on the Elmhurst Park District call (630) 993-8900 or visit www.epd.org.
