New Dialysis Center Coming to Villa Park

  • July 30, 2012

Illinois Health Facilities Services and Review Board approved U.S. Renal Care’s plans for a 13-station dialysis center in Villa Park.

Medical Director Dr. Michael Cohan has been treating dialysis patients in the area for nearly 20 years.

“We applaud the board for allowing patients to have the critical care they need so close to home,” Cohan said. “This new Villa Park facility will be easily accessible, conveniently located and will provide patients with state-of-the-art technology and a compassionate support team of trained professionals.”

The new facility, at 200 E. North Ave., will help meet the increased need for dialysis services. The need has grown in part due to an aging population, who are experiencing an increase in kidney-related diseases and a staggering rise in diabetes, which is one of the leading causes of kidney failure.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expects diabetes cases in the Chicago area to grow by nearly 50 percent over the next 15 years.

“We thank village leadership, area physicians and hospitals for standing up for area residents and supporting this project.  We look forward to delivering on our promises by bringing the highest quality of care to the region,” said U.S. Renal Care Chief Medical Officer Stan Lindenfeld.  “The patients of Villa Park need an easily accessible, high-quality facility. That message resonated loud and clear at the state board meeting.”

Local patients and community organizations expressed their support for the facility throughout the months-long approval process, speaking at a public hearing in May and at the recent state board meeting.

“This new U.S. Renal dialysis center makes all the difference to me and gives me the hope that I will be able to go back to getting the care I need at a convenient facility close to my home,” said Phil Coleman, a dialysis patient and resident of Villa Park.  “It will help bring quality care closer to me and many others.”

U.S. Renal Care recently opened a new facility in Streamwood, at 149 East Irving Park Road, and also will open facilities in Bolingbrook (396 Remington Blvd. Suite 110) and Downers Grove (1201-B Butterfield Road) this fall.
