Nearly 400 Hawthorne Students Participate in Rainy Walk/Bike to School Day

On Wednesday, Oct. 3, nearly 400 students from Elmhurst's Hawthorne Elementary School participated in International Walk/Bike to School Day.
The persistent drizzle and light rain canceled the planned outdoor dance party, but the morning was far from a washout.
"In spite of the drizzle, we had a great turnout of students who walked, biked and scootered," said Keelie Witzel, a Hawthorne parent who chairs the school's Walk on Wednesday Committee.
