Character Counts in Elmhurst is once again sponsoring its Mayor for the Day essay contest. Students in grades one through eight are eligible to enter.
The first-place winner will serve as the honorary mayor of Elmhurst, winning breakfast for themselves and friends, as well as a ride to that breakfast provided by the police chief. The essay will be read into the United States Congressional Record by Congressman Peter Roskam. The winner will also receive a $1,000 scholarship to Elmhurst College and a 6-month youth membership to the Elmhurst YMCA.
