Local Dignitaries Get Dunked for Elmhurst Y

  • November 4, 2012

Elmhurst Mayor, Pete DiCianni, was “dunked” to support the Elmhurst YMCA on Saturday, Oct. 27. The Mayor agreed to sit in the Y’s dunk tank to raise community awareness regarding the Y’s nonprofit status and Y services available to area residents regardless of ability to pay. The dunk tank event was the kick-off to Y’s annual fund-raising campaign.

The “local icons” dunk tank line-up included: Alderman Kevin York, Sandburg Assistant Principal Jeff Gail; Boy Scout Troop 82 Scoutmaster Walter Salek and Committee Chairman Bill Swanson, Alderman, Steve Morley, Sandburg and Hawthorne Band Director Rico “Mr. V” Vazquez, and many volunteers from the Y’s fitness and childcare staff.

In addition to kicking off the YMCA’s fund-raising season, the event raised more than $1,200 for local scholarships.

Were you at this event? Do you have photos of Elmhurst officials or the other participants IN the dunk tank? Upload them here.
