Elmhurst Public Library has been named one of the top 100 workplaces for 2012 by the Chicago Tribune. This distinction is awarded in November of each year to companies whose employees highly rank their workplaces in terms of organizational health and employee engagement. The Top Workplaces are determined based solely on employee feedback.

In 2013, the Library will celebrate ten years in its environmentally friendly building, which features natural light and pleasing interiors. A drive-up window, self check-in and checkout, a coffee bar, and wireless Internet access provide patrons with modern conveniences. Ample café seating, cozy teen lounging, and private study rooms welcome library-goers in this bustling suburb. All of this creates not only a pleasant spot for patrons to gather, but also becomes the backdrop of a great workplace.

Employees of the Elmhurst Public Library also note the friendly camaraderie among coworkers, the openness to differing perspectives, and the ability to explore one’s own talents and skills as highlights of this work environment.
