- School or league: Elmhurst College
- Award: 2012 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team Nominee
Elmhurst College running back Scottie Williams was nominated for the 2012 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his community service accomplishments.
Through the American Football Coaches Association and Allstate, 117 nominees were selected for their community service contributions. Two 11-player teams will be selected by a prominent panel for the Good Works Team: one for the Football Bowl Subdivision (Div. 1A) and the other for the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (Divisions II, III and NAIA), for which Williams was nominated. The teams will be announced in late September.
In order to meet the criteria set forth by Allstate and the AFCA, each player must be actively involved and committed to working with a charitable organization, service group or community service while maintaining a strong academic standing.
Williams, a graduate of Downers Grove South High School, has helped build a home for Habitat for Humanity in Starkville, Miss., participated in the Character Counts personality building movement and took part in the Elmhurst College waste audit to ensure proper recycling.
Award recipients represent the sport's finest in terms of character and leadership in the community. Past members of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team include Superbowl champion quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning, ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer and 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.
