Community Bank of Elmhurst Donates $500 for YSET Effort
Responding to local stories about York High School students impacted by a difficult economy and rising fees, Bill Gooch, chairman of Community Bank of Elmhurst, contributed $500 to the York Student Enrichment Team on Thursday.
York junior Joe Kleinhans, YSET parent member Donna Stubbs and District 205 Superintendent David Pruneau were at the bank to receive the donation.
“We wanted to do our part, while encouraging the community to keep giving to this important effort,” Gooch said. “When I read about this in the paper, it touched my heart. We’re quick to give to those in need across the world; why not give to those in our own community? YSET’s mission of making sure every student can take advantage of what our schools have to offer is very important. We want to help raise awareness of the great work they are doing."
Established by parents, administrators and faculty in the District 205 community, YSET was formed earlier this summer to assist financially challenged families with course fees, book fees, and extracurricular fees. The YSET team has either raised or received pledges of more than $60,000. Tax deductible donations may be directed to YSET via the Elmhurst District 205 Foundation http://www.elmhurst205.org/foundation.
All funds will be confidentially disseminated based on family need. An application may be downloaded from the District 205 website at http://www.elmhurst205.org/forms. If you know of or are a family experiencing financial hardship, please contact YSET by e-mailing accessyork@elmhurst205.org or call 630-617-2404.
